HK Women Group's Members Celebrate After Receiving 8 Gov't Awards

The Hong Kong branch of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) held an evening party in Hong Kong on Tuesday for its members who have been given honorary titles and medals by the Hong Kong (HK) Special Administrative Region (SAR) government for their recent contributions.

To coincide with the 18th anniversary of the UK handing over its former colony of Hong Kong to China, the HK SAR government announced the most recent batch of medal winners, who are named each year.

As an organization serving the city's female elites in the field of commerce, finance, law, education, science and technology, medical care and health, and social welfare, the ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association Ltd boasted eight members who won awards.

Wong Siu-wah, the organization's first president and member of ACWF's Executive Committee; So Chan Wai-hang, honorary president of the organization; Mak Mei-kuen, member of ACWF's Executive Committee; and Professor Yam Wing-wah, ACWF's specially-invited delegate, all won the Hong Kong government's Bronze Bauhinia Star.

Ho Chiu-king, honorary president of the association and ACWF's specially-invited delegate; Tsui Li, deputy-secretary-general of the association, honorary president of the association and ACWF's specially-invited delegate; Chan Man-ki, director of the organization and ACWF's specially-invited delegate were appointed as Justices of Peace.

Li Na, member of the Executive Committee of the Shenzhen Women's Federation, was granted the Chief Executive's Commendation for Government/Public Service.

Over the past years, the eight winners have passionately participated in social affairs and made outstanding performances and contributions, especially in the promotion of women's causes.

Those who attended the party included Guo Hengbin and Song Wei, officials from the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R; Ip Shun Hing, president of the association; Xu Peng Meiyun; Ho Man Kay; and, Zheng Zhen, as well as vice-presidents of the organization and dozens of directors.

Qu Yanhong, secretary-general of the association presided over the gathering.
