Hong Kong and Macao women are expected to be strong advocates of "one country, two systems", said Meng Xiaosi, vice-president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang Province, on October 15.
During a seminar with visiting delegations from women's groups in Hong Kong and Macao, Meng said that she hoped Hong Kong and Macao women would make full use of their advantages as women to promote democracy, economic prosperity and harmony.
"Advocate policies such as 'Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong', 'Macao people ruling Macao' and a high degree of autonomy, to build a harmonious Hong Kong and Macao," said Meng.
"Women need to pass positive energy, unite Hong Kong and Macao people under the banner of loving the country, Hong Kong and Macao, and contribute to maintaining the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong the Macao," concluded Meng.
The visiting 40-member delegation from Hong Kong, headed by Wong Yeung Chi Hung, chairperson of the All-China Women's Federation Hong Kong Delegates Association Limited (WFDA), attended a survey tour in Zhejiang from October 14-18.
"Since the WFDA was established several years ago, it has adhered to its mission of loving the country and Hong Kong, implementing the policy of 'one country, two systems', and supporting the Hong Kong Government to administrate by law," said Wong.
"In the open to letter to Hong Kong mothers, we advocate that parents do not let their children participate in class boycotts, demonstrations and the illegal 'Occupy Central' movement."
"The WFDA supports Hong Kong police in protecting the rule of law. We issued a consolation letter to create an upright atmosphere. The 'Occupy Central' movement has taken a toll on normal social life and endangered Hong Kong's rule of law and social order."
"Our federation has a clear attitude and we showed our stance in newspapers supporting the Special Administrative Government to administrate by law, and Hong Kong police to maintain Hong Kong's rule of law," said Wong.
During the survey tour, the delegations from Hong Kong and Macao visited industry parks, academic organizations and government agencies in Zhejiang Province. The tour was expected to strengthen cooperation between women's federations in Zhejiang and women's groups in Hong Kong and Macao.
