South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has provided healthcare services in 14 cities since 2018 to screen one million women for cervical and breast cancers free of charge.
In recent years, cervical and breast cancers have become two serious health hazards. In order to effectively prevent their harmful influence, Guangxi makes full use of various kinds of platforms and channels to popularize knowledge around such cancers and teach women how to prevent them. Under the limits of socio-economic development, however, the problems of poverty causing diseases and diseases causing a return to poverty still exist.
Guangxi has strengthened the screening of common gynecological diseases, with a rate of over 80 percent. The number of women who were provided health insurance reached over 600,000 in 2018, and the government aims to increase this number to three million in 2020.
All related institutions are required to work together and build a long-term mechanism to function efficiently.
Women's federations at all levels should actively popularize cancer knowledge and raise funds to help impoverished women. All health bureaus and family planning departments are responsible for screening for cervical and breast cancers, and China Life Guangxi Branch should do well in managing women's health insurance.
