The local government in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region recently amended its main service catalog, adding 11 articles on protecting women's rights and improving women's public services, among other issues.

As an update to the previous 2014 catalog, the new directory also highlights government competence in providing legal assistance to women.

According to the latest clauses, public service events will be promoted across the region to provide assistance on marriage or family issues through consultation and reconciliation.

Furthermore, activities to promote household virtues and family education will be encouraged in the region, together with the development of women's social groups and online media.

Meanwhile, the southern China government will continually organize training sessions geared towards women, especially aimed at expanding female residents' involvement in villages and communities.

In terms of rights protection, officials stressed that a system of women's social insurance is set to be consolidated following improved research and analysis in the field.

Legal assistance teams or agencies are furthermore urged to both increase their legal knowledge and service levels for women.

Other articles refer to protecting children's legal rights and interests, and promoting the nation's laws and regulations against domestic violence.

In addition, women's federations are encouraged to conduct more campaigns with concern for fostering graduates, caring for victims of domestic violence, and supporting staff working in public service activities.
