As this year's Looking for the Most Beautiful Family campaign is in full swing, the Jiangxi Women's Federation and the Jiangxi Provincial Border Police Force jointly awarded 10 "good wives" of border policemen recently for their selflessness and unrelenting marital support.
"They connect personal honor with that of the police force, take the interests of the bigger picture into account, and keep their family free from corruption," an organizer commented during the awards ceremony.
After the ceremony, the "good wives" all gave interviews. Here are the stories of three good wives married to high-ranking officials of Jiujiang Border Inspection Station.
Peng Mingrong married Wu Jian in 2008. During the past eight years, Peng took on all the housework duties.
"I cook for the family and pick up our child from school every day. On some occasions, I had to take my kid to the hospital at night all by myself," Peng said. "But I got used to it."
Furthermore, she asks Wu to be rigorous in work, thrifty in life, and clean in project construction.
Chen Shanshan is a mother born in the 1980s. During the interview she said she had made adequate mental preparation before she married her police husband Wu Zhifu.
"Our marriage had been postponed one time after another. My husband returned to his position on our big day, right after the ceremony ended."
"I went to hospital alone one day before I gave birth to our daughter. And when she suffered a bone fracture at the age of 3, I also assumed all the care work," she added.
When Wu is not at home, Chen learns about the development of the police force through TV and newspapers, and reminds her husband to work hard and be honest and corruption-free.
"I will not only be a good wife but an honest one," she said.
Zhang Lei's wife Qian Lu, 28, who owns a master's degree, is a teacher of Jiangxi Police School. As a daughter of an air force soldier, Qian has yearned for the life of the police force since childhood.
Her husband works at a grassroots police force and often stays overnight. However, she supports her husband's work all the time and often encourages him. With her understanding, Zhang made great achievements at his position and won several awards. Besides, Qian also operates her own career successfully, and independence is her forever pursuit.
