Beijing Women's Federation announced the results of its Looking for the Most Beautiful Family campaign for this year at a ceremony held at the gymnasium of Beijing Sport University on May 7.

The campaign has received nominees from more than 300 families since January, surpassing the 50 families recommended in 2015.

Officials judged candidate families on three principles: those who showed a harmony of family traditions; those with integrity and good virtues; and, those who made contributions toward the community and neighborhood.

At the ceremony, three outstanding representative families spoke about the campaign. Among them were the family of Lu Fang, a civil servant who insists on the good habit of reading and serving people in the whole community; the family of Wu Guangzeng, who has consistently contributed in promoting the ideas and actions of environmental protection; and the family of Liu Yonghe, who applies scientific approaches in saving public welfare resources.

Ma Lanxia, president of the federation, praised the efforts made in search of the great families among various communities in the capital, especially as they extended their influence and set good examples. They have affected grassroots families, further building Beijing as a harmonious city to live in, she said.

The awards were presented by Jiao Yang, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF); Li Zhaoling, deputy director of Beijing Municipal People's Congress; Zhang Xiaoyuan, minister of the Publicity Department of the ACWF; Liu Yuhui, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal Committee; and, Ma.

The campaign was jointly organized by Beijing Women's Federation, the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee, and the Capital Civilization Office.
