Shen Yueyue, president of All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), encouraged female officials to shoulder their responsibilities for serving the country, on May 12. The official delivered her message at the launch ceremony of a series of female leadership training classes at the Chinese Academy of Governance in Beijing.
According to organizers, 44 bureau-level female leaders from across the country are attending the classes this year.
Shen, who also serves as vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress, said that 177 officials have received the leadership training since 2014, aimed at cultivating female leaders and enhancing team construction.
As female Chinese leaders, Shen emphasized that participants should learn from and follow President Xi Jinping's remarks on the strategies of managing states affairs, and devote themselves to comprehensively building a well-off society based on China's strategies of "Five in One" and the "Four Comprehensives". Namely, they should focus on the principles of creating new development modes; dealing with the obstacles in the development of economy and society; emphasizing ecological construction and environment protection; alleviating poverty; and, solving issues that people are concerned about.
Shen advocated female cadres to study and maintain the Party's spirit, and demanded that close relationships should be built between them and the public, to serve the country and people with all their hearts. Moreover, female cadres should not be allowed to abuse their power and should be honest in their work to form good images of female leaders.
At the event, Ma Jianqiang, executive vice-president of Chinese Academy of Governance, expressed the hope that female leaders would be able to gain improvements in leadership and self-cultivation through the scheme.
