All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF) officials carried out an investigation trip from March 27-30 in central China's Hunan Province, leading local women to make efforts in promoting economic development in rural areas.

Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), and President of the ACWF, participated in the investigation.

The trip aimed to spread Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of this year's sessions of the NPC and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

On March 28, Shen visited a demonstration base for tea-oil trees in the local Yongshun County of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, which is a national-level poverty-stricken county.

Shen said local officials should help rural women learn how to meet the demand of the market, promote specialty industries to realize poverty alleviation.

Shen also inspected a workshop for eliminating poverty in Gaoping Village, where she spoke highly of the contribution the workshop's owner Xiang Ju had made in raising rural women's income.

Shen encouraged grassroots women's federations to set up good models and bring more job opportunities.

During her trip, Shen was briefed on the situation of women studying the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China from rural residents and grassroots officials.

Shen urged women's federations at all levels to strengthen the guidance of women's social organizations and better expand the influence of women's affairs through using the internet.

In addition, Shen pointed out that women's federation at all levels should fully understand the significance of the"Two Sessions" meetings, follow the Party's guidance and the leadership of President Xi Jinping, promote the work under the spirit of the CPC National Congress and Xi Jinping Thought.

Shen proposed several working strategies for rural development.

Firstly, officials should focus on rural industry revitalization and lead women to develop growing and breeding industries.

Secondly, officials should enhance training projects among the region and cultivate more professional farmers.

Thirdly, officials should conduct activities such as Looking for the Most Beautiful Families to promote social morality.

Fourthly, officials should build new eco-friendly farmhouses and pay attention to poverty alleviation projects, and thus help more women to achieve prosperity.

Shen also discussed the reform of women's federations with local officials.

Women's federation should enhance the people-oriented principle, provide enough resources to grassroots women, and ensure the sustainable development of women's organizations, said Shen.
