    The First National Symposium on Employment and Entrepreneurship of Female University Students opened at China Women's University (CWU) on November 30, 2012, gathering more than 200 women entrepreneurs and representatives from related ministries and colleges nationwide to discuss various topics, including ways to promote gender equality in employment and encourage female students to start their own businesses after they graduate.

    The symposium was jointly organized by the China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center (CHESICC) of the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Development Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF).

    The opening ceremony was hosted by CWU President Zhang Lixi. Vice President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Chen Xiurong delivered a speech in which she talked about the relationship between female employment and social stability. She also said that the ACWF will make efforts to improve related laws and regulations, propel social resource integration and provide more training opportunities to female students, in order to encourage female employment and entrepreneurship.

    CHESICC Director Zhang Fengyou, Vice Director of Employment Promotion Department of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security Gui Zhen and Vice Director of the China Association of Women Entrepreneurs Long Jiangwen also addressed the opening ceremony. Each stressed the importance of government and social support in creating a good employment environment for female college graduates.

    Later, a panel of experts, including Director of ACWF Development Department Cui Weiyan, Professor Wang Ling from the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Professor Yan Guangfen from Nankai University and Vice President of Beijing Association of Women Entrepreneurs Zhong Yan, held a discussion on helping female college graduates find better jobs. They agreed that more practical training and internship opportunities are the key to promoting student employment and entrepreneurship.
