The conference summarized the work of local provinces in promoting the development of family education in the past few years, introduced a new outline for future work, and urged local governmental departments to implement the Outline of China's National Plan for Medium and Long-Term Education Reform and Development (2010-2020) and the Outline of China's National Plan for Children's growth (2011-2020).

Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the ACWF Chen Zhili sent a congratulatory letter to the conference.

In her letter, Chen said that sound development of family education has great ties to children's healthy growth, the happiness of families and the future of China. She urged governmental departments and schools, as well as teachers across the country, to gain a full understanding of the significance of family education and incorporate scientific methods into their work, calling on them to make new achievements in the future.

In light of emerging problems in the current family education work, Vice President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Song Xiuyan put forth several proposals. According to Song, both the improvement of parents' knowledge in raising their children and in the moral education of children is crucial to taking efforts to the next level. In addition, she called for closer cooperation between educational departments and women's federations, urged relevant departments to extend more care to disadvantaged children, and emphasized the need for a full-fledged service network.

Addressing the conference, Vice President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Zhao Donghua summarized previous achievements, mainly in terms of society's support and professional development of workers in the field. Local women's federations are expected to work out new methods to promote their family education work, said Zhao.

The construction of parenting schools should be integral to overall family education efforts, said Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education Liu Limin, while more attention should be given to rural children.

At the sideline of the conference, the Ministry of Education, the ACWF, and the General Office of Civilization of Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) awarded 1,000 model units in the field of family education.
