Hosted by Shaanxi Women's Federation, Shaanxi Women and Children Working Office and Shaanxi Women and Children Development Foundation, the fund aims to mobilize social resources to help impoverished women and children to improve their living standards and development environment, President of Shaanxi Women's Federation Liu Lige said at the press conference.
The fund's main work in 2011 is to enable one million women in the province to receive health education and to collect one hundred million yuan (US$147,058) towards helping impoverished women suffering from breast and cervical cancers, Liu added.
She went to say that women diagnosed with either cancer who apply to the fund for help will, after approval, receive a 10,000 yuan (US$1,470) subsidy.
The first batch of seven women patients each received at the launch ceremony a 10,000 yuan (US$1,470) subsidy. The fund has so far collected a total 900,000 yuan (US$132,352) from loving people and enterprises.
