Shaanxi plans to invest 600 million yuan (US$882,352,941) in building Shaanxi Women and Children's Hospital, the biggest of its kind in northwestern China. The hospital will considerably ease the hospital bed shortage, a Shaanxi Provincial Health Bureau representative said.

As a Third-level First-class specialized hospital, and expected to be completed within the coming two-to-three years, it will have 1,000 beds, equivalent to those of three provincial maternal health care institutes.

The third level of China's hospital system denotes general or comprehensive hospital at national, provincial and city level. The other two levels are respectively in medium-sized cities, counties or districts, and at township hospital.
