The 11-strong railway maintenance team in the Xuchang work zone affiliated to Zhengzhou Railway Bureau has eight women workers. The workers are responsible for checking the security of three main railway lines in central China's Henan Province.
The group carries out routine inspections on five-kilometer-long stretches of the railway in the Xuchang work zone.
Since 2001, the department has been managing 16 switches, as well as countless railroad girders and bolts en route.
The women do just as many physical tasks as the men, and they perform as well as men, say their peers.
