Jiangsu Mountain Climber Killed in Nepal Plane Crash

The Chinese mountain climber Yang Zhihua was among 19 people who died in a plane crash in Nepal on September 28, 2012. The plane carrying tourists and others to a base camp for Mt Qomolangma (Everest) expeditions crashed after a bird strike incident involving an eagle on takeoff, killing all 19 aboard.

There were four Chinese and a Chinese American, who had planned to climb Qomolangma together, among those who died in the crash.

Yang Zhihua, a female climber from Wujiang City in east China’s Jiangsu Province, was fond of travelling and recorded her journeys on her microblog. Her last microblog was issued on September 26.. She loved travelling and exploration. "A journey is short while life is long," she wrote.

Yang's family members are travelling to Nepal to identify Yang’s body.
