A symposium on the establishment in enterprises of an anti-sexual harassment mechanism in workplaces took place on April 27 in Beijing.
Hosted by the UN Theme Group on Gender and sponsored by Beijing Zhongze Women's Legal Consulting Center, the meeting aimed to promote a sustainable and feasible mechanism to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace, promote social gender mainstreaming and improve women workers' status.

Related experts and scholars and representatives from UN organizations and the first four companies to set up mechanisms to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace exchanged their ideas at the meeting.
All present were agreed that sexual harassment is essentially a form of gender discrimination that has a detrimental effect on working conditions and inflicts both physical and psychological injury on women employees. They concluded that a sound mechanism for preventing workplace sexual harassment is urgently needed.
