Jiang Bin, a 90-year-old grandma from Hangzhou, in east China's Zhejiang province, has visited over a dozen countries in the past decade to pursue her love of traveling and experience new cultures.

She was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, and joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) when she was 21. She then worked as a nurse in Beijing.

Jiang returned to Hangzhou in 1977. Five years ago, she moved into a nursing home with her husband, who was in ill health and passed away in 2015.

She then sold her apartment and planned to live in the nursing home for the rest of her life.

Since 2009 Jiang has traveled to France, Switzerland, South Africa and other places accompanied by her daughter.

She even participated in some sightseeing tours that are generally considered as exclusively for the young, like climbing a snow-capped mountain, taking helicopters, sightseeing on glaciers and hiking.

When she traveled to Switzerland, given her health condition, the staff in the scenic area tried to persuade her not to climb the mountain. Jiang thought that at least she had to try.

At last, when she stood on the summit, the staff gave the old Chinese lady the thumbs up.

Besides traveling, Jiang likes to sing karaoke in her spare time. Her daughter bought her a smart phone, which Jiang learned how to use quickly.

Jiang was also interested in online shopping. She tried to make her living place a home by decorating it with ornaments bought online. Other elderly people in the nursing home say they like her very much.

"She is nice and we always feel pleasant living with her," said Jiang's friends.

Jiang's advice to the younger generation? "Work hard and earn more money when you are young, so you can travel around the world while you are old."
