Zhang Qiyue, Chinese Consul-General in New York, hopes all students studying in the United States will pay attention to China's development and improve people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Zhang made such remarks recently at the 2017 National Outstanding Foreign Self-funded Student Scholarship Award ceremony on April 28.

Over 160 students and their families, tutors, evaluation experts and some alumni representatives gathered at the Chinese Consulate General in New York to congratulate the 32 award winners.

Zhang delivered a speech at the ceremony and sent her sincere congratulations to students on behalf of the Consulate General.

"The Consulate General will always provide better services for overseas students; spare no efforts to safeguard their legal rights and interests; improve the pragmatic cooperation between China and the U.S. in education, technology, culture and other fields; and, create more opportunities for more aspiring young people to study in America and make achievements in all aspects," Zhang said.

"We have carried out a series of activities over the years to supply services to colleges and promise that all overseas students can study abroad safely, healthily and successfully," she added.
