Doctor Fang Gang is one of the few men who have profound knowledge on the issue of men's participation in promoting gender equality.

On December 8, Fang, along with three other male experts attended the launch ceremony of a documentary film titled "Men Tell Stories," where he shared his views on gender equality with the male audience.

When Fang addressed to the male audience on the topic of gender equality, he was often confronted with the questions: "Why should men fight for equality for women? Why should men be interested in this?"

Actually, gender equality can not be defined as women's rights and interests, but equal rights and interests for both women and men.

When we look at certain Internet buzzwords, such as "man without a house", "man without a car" or "man with nothing", we realize that these words are prejudiced against men. Since some women are deprived of their rights to participate in social affairs, men have to shoulder more economic responsibilities. They have to buy houses and cars and make a living for their wives. So the cause of such bias on men can be attributed to women's increasing demands on men.

The United Nations and the London School of Economics and Political Science conducted research on all the natural disasters which occurred before 2008. They discovered that the proportion between men and women who died in the disaster is about 1:4. Why? Because men start to learn disaster escape at an early age. In childhood, boys learn swimming and climbing trees while girls often do not. Boys are more likely to receive help from their parents in the aftermath of disaster than girls, because parents prefer boys to girls.

To draw a conclusion, Fang argues that a true man should learn to take care of women.
