Local social workers organized an artistic photo shoot for octogenarians and nonagenarians at a nursing home in Wuhan, central China's Hubei province, on November 14 to help them enliven their dull life by striking poses for the camera in remarkably youthful-looking clothes.
At the activity room of the nursing home, the elderly residents, who normally dress in dark grey or black, were much attracted by the yellow hoodies, military uniform, red sportswear and the like prepared by the social workers. In their 80s or even 90s though, they seemed to be elated as they started to pick their favorite kind of clothes to put on.
Paired with makeup, the seniors dressed in brightly colored clothes looked fashionable and seemed to be considerably younger than their years.
At the beginning, some felt shy, but with social workers' encouragement, they came up with many happy poses and started to relive their young days.
Cai Weiqiu, 89, looked like a middle-aged woman after wearing makeup, a curly wig, hoodie and skirt, said one onlooker.
Li Xinzhen, a nonagenarian, was full of innocence and the naughtiness suggestive of children after putting on her sportswear and altering her hair style.
The elderly posed for different kinds of photos under the instruction of the social workers.
The activity was aimed at paying closer attention to the mental well-being of the elderly and helping them recall their past so that they could become more dynamic, said organizers.
