Women's federations across the nation were expected to work closely with the millions of their female fellows, make contributions to the sound growth of their affairs and the protection of their legal interests, and adhere to key points in the speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the concluding conference of the Mass Line campaign held in Beijing on October 8, 2014.

The comments were made by Vice-Chairperson of China's National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Shen Yueyue at a meeting held during her working tour in Beijing on October 15-16, 2014, to talk with representative local women and learn about their lives.

The term Mass line refers to a guideline according to which the Communist Party of China (CPC) is required to prioritize the interests of the people and persist in exercising power for them.

At the meeting, Shen emphasized the importance of the institutional construction of women's organizations to further advance women's affairs and the protection of their rights in new social circumstances.

During the two-day tour, Shen visited Dongguan Village, Miaocheng Township in Huai'rou District, the Social Service Centers at Dongzhimen and Qingshuiyuan communities in Dongcheng District in Beijing, where she praised highly the innovative efforts made by women's federations and women's representatives to provide needy women with assistance in their business activities, engage them in leisure activities and enrich their personal lives.

For instance, the Dongguan Women's Congress has taken a leading role in the building of women-oriented activity centers, where women can relax and seek help in cases of difficulty.

For their part, representatives in Miaocheng Township have organized women to run their own factories to make full use of their handicraft abilities.

Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Cui Yu and Deputy Secretary of the Beijing CPC Municipal Committee Lv Xiwen accompanied Shen on her tour.
