Children’s literature should portray children’s tenacity and optimism, according to President of the China Writers Association Tie Ning, who said this at the awards ceremony for the 9th National Children's Literature Awards in Beijing on September 24, 2013.

Tie believes that children’s writers are responsible for shaping and guiding children’s dreams.

Twenty awarded writers received prizes at the ceremony. One of the judges, Liu Xuyuan, said that he was glad to see great recent developments in Chinese children's literature.
