The Liaoning Women's Federation and the Provincial Department of Public Security launched a three-month campaign to crack down on domestic violence on July 20. The police worked together with grassroots women's federations in Northeast China's Liaoning Province to screen domestic conflicts and violence during the three-month campaign.

With the help of members of the executive committee of the grassroots women's federations and local volunteers across the province, the cases of domestic violence found in the investigation of marriage and family disputes were filed and traced under supervision.

A total of 382 evidentiary cases were found over the three-month campaign. The women's federations offered 579 services to protect the rights of domestic violence victims and made 334 return calls or visits to them. Twenty-six cases were transferred to police stations.

Grassroots women's federations provide all-round rights protection services for victims of domestic violence in need, such as psychological counseling, legal advice, marriage and family relationship guidance, as well as aids and assistance.

If the involved parties were emotional, complained or called the police many times about the same incident, the public security organs and the women's federations would resolve the disputes through guidance and legal education.

In addition, the women's federations and the public security authorities focused on follow-up tasks in a bid to update and confirm the real-time situations of domestic violence cases.

The women's federations and the public security authorities will also give special protection to the minors, the elderly, the disabled, pregnant and lactating women and seriously ill patients if they suffer from domestic violence.
