Women's federations at all levels in Beijing recently held several special education campaigns in the city in an effort to secure safer summer holidays for local children.
In one initiative, scores of children took part in a singing competition organized by Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) and Beijing Sanliusan Education and Technology Company.
On July 28, competition winners aged from 3-10 competed for a chance to collaborate with elderly musicians to record 10 songs about safety education at Haidian Women and Children's Activities Center.
The campaign was run as part of this year's efforts by BWF to further the construction of family civilization and publicize safety-related knowledge among children, and to develop the "School-Children-Family" safety education system.
A total of 54 classes on safety education were held at 51 kindergartens as well as Zhongguancun Book Building, attended by nearly 5,000 children and parents, between May and July.
Women's federations at all levels in Beijing organized various safety education activities both online and offline during the current summer holiday, in an attempt to expand the influence of their campaigns and call on households in the city to create a safe and comfortable living environment.
BWF offered a series of free courses on disaster prevention and control knowledge to children with topics such as how to deal with injuries, how to prevent fire disaster at home and how to deal with drowning. The federation also organized drills to improve youngsters' capability to handle emergencies.
Dongcheng Women's Federation organized safety education activities to teach children how to protect themselves against campus violence and in case of natural disasters, emergencies or human trafficking.
Xicheng Women's Federation made full use of its talents to invite experts to provide professional safety-related courses and services to children in local communities.
Shijingshan Women's Federation delivered safety education lectures to children in the district.
Shunyi Women's Federation made use of new media platform WeChat to publish safety education cartoons and teamed up with the Women's Home and Children's Home centers in the district to play safety education videos and hand out a family safety knowledge manual.
Meanwhile, BWF organized various activities related to family education, family traditions and parent-child reading.
