Wuhan Women's Federation (WWF) organized a family education lecture on July 3 in Zhanglin Community, central China's Hubei Province, to look into the reasons behind Internet addiction and proposed countermeasures.
Zhai Juan, a teacher from Limingjing Social Work Service Center, chaired the lecture and just over 40 parents and children took part.
At the activity, Zhai introduced vivid cases to expound on why online networks attract children so much and what children usually do online.
Zhai also popularized network security knowledge and the harm of internet addition to all attendees. She taught parents to understand their children's needs as well as helped them realize the advantages and disadvantages of online games, and how to persuade them to enjoy a meaningful life.
Participants said the lecture has helped them gain an in-depth understanding of the Internet and they have learned how to deal with the problem and encourage their children to be civilized netizens.
